Dr. Laura Harris
Dr. Harris is the Director of Training at the Institute for Cyber-Enabled Research. Her projects use bioinformatics approaches to examine differential gene expression changes associated with a wide variety of biological topics including antibiotic resistance, cancer treatment, and SARS infection.
Dr. Lik Chuan Lee
Dr. Lee is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Computational Biomechanics. His research focus is on computational cardiovascular mechanics with an emphasis on cardiac remodeling and electro-mechanics.
Dr. Hanzhe Zhang
Dr. Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Economics and a faculty affiliate of Human Capital and Economic Opportunity Global Working Group at the University of Chicago. His research and teaching interests are microeconomics, matching theory, game theory, labor economics, and family economics.
Dr. Jason Bazil
Dr. Bazil is an Assistant Professor of Physiology. His lab uses an integrative strategy that combines both computational modeling and experimental physiology to study these phenomena.
Dr. Andrew Bender
Dr. Bender is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics as well as Neurology and Ophthalmology. His work seeks to understand how individual differences in vascular, metabolic, and lifestyle risk factors contribute to changes in the brain’s structure and function in normal aging and in dementia.
Dr. Seth Jacobson
Dr. Jacobson is an Assistant Professor of Planetary Sciences who study the planets, moons, asteroids, and comets of the Solar System as well as other planetary systems with the tools of celestial mechanics, geophysics, and geochemistry.
Dr. Addie Thompson
Dr. Addie Thompson is an Associate Professor of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences. Her lab is interested in studying maize, and how different genotypes grow in different environments. using approaches ranging from quantitative genetics to phenomics to statistical and physiological modeling.
Dr. Ashley Shade
Dr. Ashley Shade is an Associate Professor of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences. She applies an ecological approach to understand how microbial communities respond to stressors, and what determines their resilience as a system.
Dr. Jeffrey Freymueller
Dr. Jeffrey Freymueller is an Endowed Chair for Geology of the Solid Earth, Director of the EarthScope National Office, and Interim Department Chair of Earth and Environmental Sciences. He is an internationally recognized leader in the field of geodesy and utilizes satellites from the Global Positioning System (GPS) to make highly precise measurements of movement on Earth’s surface.
Dr. Matthew Schrenk
Dr. Matthew Schrenk is an Associate Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences. His laboratory studies the diversity, distribution, and activities of microorganisms in the deep subsurface biosphere using molecular biological approaches coupled with geochemical analyses.
Dr. Josh Vermaas
Dr. Josh Vermaas is an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. His research computes renewable solutions through molecular modeling using atomic simulation tools to create accurate molecular-scale models for biological phenomena at the nanoscale.
Dr. Haun Lei
Dr. Haun Lei is an Assistant Professor of Computational Mathematics, Science and Engineering as well as Statistics and Probability. His research develops high-fidelity computational models for multiscale multiphysics systems that no longer fit into traditional hypothesis-driven based descriptions.
